Gallery walls are timeless. These dynamic focal points never fail to intrigue a viewer. But rather than a gallery wall made of up solely of family photos, Vani Krishnamurthi of Hoboken’s Coco Gallery is captivated by arrays that mix black and white drawings with modern portraits.

She says it allows for the wall to be personal and unique, while the dichotomy helps break up the genres and colors.

Though portraits can be traditional and boring, modern or even avant-garde portraits can give a gallery wall personality. Interspersed with black and white drawings, the display is always understated and elegant.
